Representing Staffing

Established in 2002, when the need for a unified voice for the South African staffing industry became apparent, the Confederation of Associations in the Private Employment Sector (CAPES) serves as the lobbying organisation for the four staffing associations – APSO, AHASA, CEA, and ITA – and the thousands of SME staffing businesses they represent, and several of South Africa’s largest staffing companies, in their capacity as corporate members.

CAPES was created specifically to act as the unified, confederated lobbying body for the staffing industry, and membership is made up of two categories: Association and Corporate.

Association Membership

The four staffing associations – Federation of African Professional Staffing Organisations (APSO), Allied Healthcare Agencies of South Africa (AHASA), Construction Engineering Association (CEA), and Information Technology Association (ITA) – pay membership fees on behalf of their thousands of SME staffing agency members.

The Association representatives serve on the CAPES Board and ensure the interests of their members. Each Association operates in different/specific sectors of the economy, enabling their members through a range of benefits, products, and services to succeed. For more information on the various Associations, and how to become a member, please click on the respective logo below.

Should another Association, servicing the interests of members operating within flexible or diverse employment sectors, be interested in CAPES membership, please contact us

Corporate Members

This category of membership is open to any staffing organisation that wishes to actively participate in industry-level discussions and initiatives. The primary criterion for consideration as a CAPES corporate member is that the organisation must be a member in good standing of at least one of the four staffing Associations (see above).

Benefits

  • Seat on the CAPES Executive Committee (voting rights) and the ability to attend monthly meeting, affording the opportunity to directly influence major issues affecting the staffing industry.
  • Access to first-hand information and updated pertaining to the regulatory environment and other industry-related matters, e.g.: litigation re Bargaining Councils etc.
  • Access to advice/guidance and resources from CAPES Secretariat
  • Access to the CAPES Provident Fund.
Regular email correspondence from CAPES Secretariat.

Membership fees are payable monthly, and an annual membership certificate will be provided.
